Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is an organization who is supporting the 4 Houston Taliban wannabes. Gathering from news reports, they were ICNA and ICNA-Whyislam workers. We found a website (www.whyislam-tx.org) that was quickly taken down (perhaps due to the extremist link it was promoting, http://jihadunspun.com/) which also confirmed this fact.

We have found that ICNA’s support ranges from raising money for the legal aid for these Taliban wannabes (establishing faketerror blog being one of their methods of raising money), to inciting hatred and retaliation against those who support the justice of these folks, and failing to distance themselves from the criminal actions of these people. Their silence is their approval of the criminal actions of these individuals, especially in light of other Islamic organizations (not directly involved) who have thought it necessary publicly distanced themselves with public statements.

Who is Whyislam?

WhyIslam is the outreach branch of ICNA (Islamic Circle of North America).

Who is the Islamic Circle of North America?

ICNA was founded in the early 1970’s by members of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) who immigrated to the USA and Canada from Pakistan. Their movement is guided by the teachings of Jamaat-e-Islami publications from individuals such as, Syed Maududi who is well known for many books including the ICNA publication “Towards Understanding Islam.” ICNA’s membership is still majority current or former Jamaat-e-Islami members who have migrated then or since then. It’s leadership is Jamaat people and some still hold high status in the Jamaat currently in Pakistan. It’s member base is majority Pakistani while they have an increasing interest in inducting indigenous American Muslims in their ranks.

ICNA officials and Jamaat officials publicly claim that they are not affiliated organizations. Although this is legally true in actuality it is not. There were many occasions were Jamaat members visited the US and they were spoken very highly of and well respected among ICNA members and officials.

What is Jamaat-e-Islami?

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is a political religious party that holds influence among about 325 National Assembly (Pakistani Congressional) seats in Pakistani Parliament held by Islamists. They are the ones who support the Taliban in Western Pakistan.

Since, the Jamaat cannot establish a political-religious party in the USA they established their organization as a religious non-profit organization whose sole mission is to spread the religion of Islam. However, they are still politically active.

ICNA is the parent organization for Young Muslims and WhyIslam. Although ICNA’s charter is to do dawah in the west (propagate Islam) it has largely been ineffective. In realizing this (after September 11, 2001) they founded WhyIslam as a concentrated marketing campaign. However, even though it is successful in propagating the faith it has not been immune to extremist infiltration.

The Jamaat-e-Islami is also mentioned in the following New York Times article as a worldwide political extremist organization. To view (Click here)

The main opposing (more moderate or centrist) parties in Pakistan that is countering the Jamaat-e-Islami among others in the political arena is the “Pakistan Muslim League (N) and (Q)”. Their official websites can be viewed here: Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan Muslim League (Q). The Pakistan Muslim league (N) was the party overthrown by General Musharraf for excessive corruption. The Pakistan Muslim League (Q) is the party that supports General Musharraf. The Jamaat-e-Islami also supported this military coup (Source: Jamaat-e-Islami webpage).

Who is the guy in this video, giving Whyislam.org as his contact site?

2. Sultan of Ping - June 7, 2007

Thanks for bringing that to our attention Haq al Lugi!

We researched it after your tip. That is Yahya Gant. They post his name in this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3742742476654639231&q=whyislam+tx

It appears he is the host of whyislam-tx, the site that we spoke about in the above post. The shows name is ‘Islamic Perspectives’. These videos were also posted on the same whyislam-tx.org site that jihadunspun was on before they took the site down but it appears that they also put them on google.

We found a number of videos posted on google where he is the host.

Also, we found on faketerror words from Yahya Gant.

1. Yahya Gant – March 13, 2007

Al hamdulillah, I’m amaze at the things that has happen to these Muslims. However thats not the first and want be the last. Since post 911 this was a way for the government to invade the lives of the Muslims in the US. We as Muslims must always beware of these so called Muslims that pose as our brothers in the faith, yet at the same time they have evil intentions. However the sad thing is the so called learned of the Ummah are not standing up for justice which we have been commanded to do, until it one of them. Also the thing thats so shocking is that most of the Muslims that are here for the big jobs and the money is that it can be taken in one day all that they’ve work for, because thats the so called American dream, a dream that can be taking over night.

All because you fell for the word game. What word game jihad or how do you feel about the brothers over seas, or the Iraq war, theses are traps. Don’t get me wrong we should love our country, but have a great dislike for any injustice whether it Muslim related or not. What *name removed by realterror* did is a great wrong to lie on these brothers for the sake of money, I recall several times when I was with these brothers that he would always start a conversation about the war and fighting with the muhajidun I would always get up and leave them. We have to be awake at all times.

4. Concern bro at Al Islam – May 25, 2007

Very true bro yahya. I am not sure the bro lied. I used to get up from the conversations also but it wasnt jim who started them. We dont have all of the facts and didnt stay to find out.

3. Jonfan - June 10, 2007

Yahya say’s the US is ‘Invading the lives of Muslims’? No. The US is bringing down threats to the country. The poor me syndrome is drowning pretty quickly in the US. Yahya needs to relax and get his ya ya’s out!

4. eleveniswhere - June 10, 2007

Sultan of Ping, apparently I am not the only one who noticed the comment #4, stating that “it wasnt jim who started” the conversations. Yet, no one has made a comment on that. What, are they afraid the actual truth coming out and slapping them in the face? If he didn’t start the conversations, then who did?
